A sentencing hearing for a Dawn resident will get underway at 9:00 a.m. Friday in a Livingston County courtroom. David Hughes, 37, was seriously injured in a September gun fight outside of a home in Dawn.
According to police reports, Hughes was arrested for firing shots at a former girlfriend and another man while children slept inside the home. Investigators said they also found bullet marks on one of the vehicles parked at the residence. Police said the male victim returned fire, hitting Hughes.
Hughes pleaded guilty in December to unlawful use of a loaded firearm by an intoxicated person and tampering with a motor vehicle. He could receive up to seven years on the tampering charge and four on the weapons violation.
