Hughes Waives Preliminary Hearing

A Dawn resident, who facing charges related to a shooting last month, waived his right to a preliminary hearing on Wednesday morning.  David Hughes, 37, allegedly opened fire on Paul Estes and Brandi Thompson at a home near 4th and Liberty, according to police reports.  Hughes was seriously injured in the shootout.  Prosecutors have charged Hughes with assault, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon. He remains behind bars on a $300,000 bond.  Hughes is expected to appear in a Livingston County Circuit courtroom on Nov. 13 at 9:00 a.m.
