The Lafayette County Huskers traveled to Lexington for week 8 of High School Football looking to continue their winning streak that started Week 1.

The Minutemen of Lexington were outmatched from the first quarter as Husker running back Cotry Lewis exploded for a 49 yard touchdown run just 2:22 into the game. Lewis would rush for well over 100 yards on the night, all of which came on TD runs. The 2-point conversion failed and Higginsville was up 6-0.

Lexington made several mental errors early with false start penalty’s and had to punt it away. With 7:25 left in the 1st, Husker QB Adam Reid found Senior back Zach Fields for a 39 yard TD pass to go up 13-0. The 2-point conversion was good and Higginsville found themselves up 14-0 with more than half of the first quarter left to go.

The Minutemen of Lexington were shell shocked as they watched the Huskers put up another 20 points before the end of the 1st, including a 35-yard pick 6 by Linebacker Ian Gash.

The Huskers would put up two more TD’s in the first half and lead 48-0 heading into the locker room.

The running clock ticked down throughout the 2nd half till finally, with 3:58 left in the contest, Lexington scored on a 22 yard pass from QB Jevon Williams to Trey Ashley; but that was all the Minutemen could do for the night. Final Score 48-7, Huskers.

Lexington falls to 3-5 on the season as they get set to host Richmond next Friday.

The Huskers continue their run of dominance at 8-0 and travel to Carrollton on October 19th to take on the floundering Trojans who remain winless on the season.
