After thrashing their last opponent by 61 points, the Huskers are the team to beat and Knob Noster had their work cut out for them.
The opening drive by Knob Noster was promising; they drove deep into Husker territory to the 25, but a holding penalty pushed them back to the 31 where they turned the ball over on downs.
The Huskers wasted no time as Cotry Lewis took it in from 16 yards out after two big pass plays. The Huskers faked a point after and Quarterback Adam Reid scrambled in from the 2 yard line to put the Huskers out front for good, 8-0.
The Panthers were outmatched in all phases, giving up an 86-yard punt return for a touchdown by Tyrelle Thirkield and an 85 yard kick-off return for a touchdown by Cotry Lewis. Those two huge special teams plays came in the second half when the game was already out of reach.
The Panthers were able to score off an 8 yard td run by Lane Epperson and a 45 yard touchdown run by Darryl Davis in the 4th quarter but that was not near enough as the Huskers defeat Knob Noster 70-14.
The Panthers finish their season at 5-6. The Huskers remain undefeated at 11-0.
The Huskers now get ready to host the Holden Eagles in the Class 2 District 7 Championship game this Monday November 5th. These two teams met back in week 6 and it was decided in overtime with the Huskers getting the 28-21 victory. The game will be broadcast live on sister station 103.9 KRLI.
