Mark McRoberts said the idea was brought before the committee to hold in conjunction with their fundraising event. The recipient will not be announced until the ceremony. “We’re going to present it to an individual who has exemplified the aspect of community service,” said McRoberts, “They have put forth a lot of effort to help citizens of the county. It’s not a particularly political individual, and, frankly, none of us know her personal politics, either. So this first award, that is named after Ike Skelton because of his public service, is truly about public service to the citizens of Saline County, not necessarily Democrat public service.” The fundraising event and award ceremony will be held Friday from 5:30 to 8:00 at Marshall’s Martin Community Center.
