Independence Cntr. Shooter Goes on Trial

A man is on trial for a shooting at Independence Center back in January of last year; opening arguments start Tuesday.

25-year-old Eric D. Bratton was inside Independence Center on January 14th, 2012 when he made a comment about a man’s girlfriend. The victim turned and confronted Bratton which resulted in a fight. After the two were separated Bratton allegedly pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and opened fire striking the victim in the leg. Witness reports led police to Bratton. He faces two separate charges of aggravated assault and two counts of armed criminal action. Bratton is incarcerated on a $500,000 bond.
