Independence Man Facing Ten Counts

Ten separate charges were filed against an Independence man on Tuesday.  Cornelius Coleman is facing one count of kidnapping, four counts of domestic assault, three counts of armed criminal action, and two counts of unlawful use of a weapon.

He allegedly assaulted a woman, repeatedly striking her with a belt on the buttocks and attempting to choke her with the same belt.  Coleman is also accused of other crimes that caused injury to the woman.

He has been scheduled for a preliminary hearing June 5th at 9:00.  Coleman is being held on bond of $500,000.
