Independence Police searching for armed robbery suspect

INDEPENDENCE, MO – Detectives with the Independence Police Department are attempting to identify and locate a suspect responsible for at least four recent armed robberies of businesses along US 24 Highway in Independence since January 3, 2018.

According to a news release by the police department, in all of these cases, the suspect has pointed a pistol at store employees and robbed them of cash. Businesses deprived of cash include two Dollar General stores, Family Dollar, and a Subway restaurant.

The suspect is described as an unknown race male, with a medium skin complexion, in his 20’s, about 5’6” to 5’8” tall, weighing about 150 to 175 pounds. He has worn a dark hoodie with white lining, blue jeans, tan & black boots, and a black or red bandana. He has used a black handgun.
