Independence Woman Injured in Morning Crash

An Independence woman was rushed to the hospital Thursday morning after she fell asleep behind the wheel.

The highway patrol reports that 23-year-old Jessica Hillebrand was southbound on H just north of Route FF in Jackson County just after 6 a.m. The vehicle ran off the roadway, struck an embankment and became airborne before striking several trees.

Hillebrand suffered moderate injuries and was treated at Centerpoint Hospital.
