Bashor said his former boss helped prepare him for this position. “Just recently Chief Sloan has sent me to schools on how to manage and run police departments.” He added, “I just attended the command college through the Police Chief’s Association in Jefferson City. It was an eight-week long program that helped prepare command staff for the position of chief.”

Bashor said former Police Chief Corey Sloan will be greatly missed by many. “With his leadership he has made us all better in our positions. So, my goal for the department is just to make it as seamless as possible. I’ve talked to other officers and the dispatch center and told them we’re just going to continue to do what we do.”

Bashor has been with the city of Cameron since 1996 and has received several awards and commendations throughout his career. His appointment came after Chief Corey Sloan’s resignation earlier this month. Sloan held the position of chief for nearly a decade.
