CHILLICOTHE, Mo. — The Disabled Veteran Outreach Program helps to assist disabled veterans and other eligible veterans with integration into the work force.  Their specific focus is on those who face “barriers” to employment.  Such barriers include deficits in education, economic standing, homelessness, and even criminal records.

KMZU’s Ashley Johnson met with Workforce Development Specialist with the DVOP, Bobby Barlow, and Veteran’s Representative for the DED’s Division of Workforce Development, Justin Hirniak.  They spoke about their respective tasks regarding the assistance they provide for veterans and upcoming job fairs that focus on veterans.

Justin Herniak mentioned the next upcoming job fair with a focus on veterans will be at the Nemo Fairgrounds in Kirksville, Missouri from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m October 29, 2015 .  Not only will it be a “proper” job fair, but other veterans services will be found there in the form of at least two mobile units which can offer counseling, information about benefits, and a host of other services to veterans.

Bobby Barlow may be reached at (660)-646-0671.
