“We do have plans to remodel a portion of our facility to allow us additional bed capacity,” said Heiss. “We just met with the county commission and Septigon Construction signed the contract for the project so it will be getting underway shortly.”

The project is estimated to cost $208,000.

“We are shooting for [completion by] mid-October,” Heiss added. “It isn’t a new construction project, it is a remodel of an existing structure here on the campus of the jail. We are just remodeling that space to add additional housing.”

Heiss said the project has been planned for a while now, and that it is long overdue.
