Judge to Consider Setting Preliminary Hearing

A Dawn resident seriously injured and charged following a shootout last month is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday morning.  According to police, David Hughes, 37, allegedly opened fire on Paul Estes and Brandi Thompson at a home near 4th and Liberty on Sept. 5.  Estes returned fire wounding Hughes.  Prosecutors have charged Hughes with assault, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon.  His bond was set at $300,000.  A judge in Livingston County will consider setting a preliminary hearing when attorneys meet at 9:00 a.m.
