Kansas Cattle On Feed Down 3 Percent

Kansas feedlots, with capacities of 1,000 or more head, contained 2.05 million cattle on feed on February 1st this year according to the USDA’s Nation Agricultural Statistics Service. This inventory was down 3 percent from last year and is the lowest February inventory since 1999.

Placements during January this year totaled 435,000 head, up 2 percent from 2013.

Fed cattle marketing’s for the month of January totaled 385,000 head, down 6 percent from last year. This is the lowest January marketing’s since 1995.

Other disappearance during January totaled 10,000 head, down 5,000 head from last year.
