Kansas Cattle On Feed Report Slightly Higher

Kansas feedlots with capacities of 1,000 or more head, contained 2.06 million cattle on feed on March first, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. This inventory was slightly higher than last year.

Placements during February totaled 335,000 head, up 18 percent from 2013.

Fed cattle marketings for the month of February totaled 315,000 head, down 6 percent from last year. This is the lowest February marketings since 1995.

Other disappearance during February totaled 10,000 head, unchanged from last year.
