KCPD Sergeant Faces Platte Co. Charges

KCPD Sergeant Mark Stinson; accused of alleged theft from his mother.

A Sergeant with the K.C.P.D. is charged with stealing over $75-thousand from his 67-year-old mother while she was in a nursing home.

According to court documents, 43-year-old Mark Stinson allegedly misappropriated funds while holding a durable power of attorney over a two year period beginning in 2008. Prosecutors allege the money was used for Stinson’s own personal debts and finances, including over $5,000 for car repairs.

If convicted Stinson faces up to four years in prison. He’s expected to turn himself in and post a $10-thousand bond.
