Keytesville driver sent to hospital with injuries following early Wednesday accident

CHARITON COUNTY, Mo. — The Highway Patrol was called to Highway 5 north of Keytesville for a single-vehicle crash early Wednesday morning.

According to an accident report, the crash occurred at about 5:15 a.m. Wednesday on Highway 5 roughly five miles north of Keytesville.

A pick-up truck operated by John M. Pope, 48, was traveling south on 5 when it struck a horse in the roadway.

Pope suffered moderate injuries in the crash, and according to the Highway Patrol report, was not wearing a seat belt. He was taken by ambulance to Moberly Regional Medical Center to receive care.
