KMZU Listeners: Teen Shot in Breckenridge

Update (5:45 p.m.) – Press release from the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office

On Jan. 11, 2013 at 2045 hours the Caldwell County Sheriff’s office received a call to 58 West Maple Breckenridge, Missouri.  It was reported that a juvenile was suffering a gunshot wound.  Upon arrival it was determined that a twelve year old juvenile mishandled a handgun and had suffered a gunshot wound.  Breckenridge First Responders, Caldwell County Ambulance, The Missouri Highway Patrol, Braymer Police Department, Hamilton Police Department and the Cameron Police Department responded to the scene.  The juvenile was transported to KU Medical Center by Life Flight.

On Jan. 12, 2013 it was reported that the juvenile died from the gunshot injury.

This is an on going investigation being conducted by the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office.

 

Original Story: Authorities in Caldwell County are investigating a shooting that occurred Friday in Breckenridge. According to a KMZU listener, a 13-year-old was flown to a Kansas City area hospital with a gunshot wound. The tip has not been officially confirmed and the sheriff’s office was not able to make a statement at this time. A press release is expected to be issued later today.
