The Northwestern Invitational Tournament at Mendon High School wrapped up Saturday night with the championship rounds in both girls and boys competition.

The girl’s matchup was Hale taking on Bucklin/Macon County. The Hale Lady cardinals took the lead early and would hold onto it until the fourth period. Bucklin would keep fighting and trailed by as much as 8 points in the contest, but with 3 minutes left in the game Bailey Ratliff hit a three, and sored a field goal and was 2-2 from the foul line, which helped the Lady Raiders get back in the contest and take the lead. Bucklin would go on to win 42-39.

In the boys Match-up the Linn County Mustangs were outsized and outmatched but held their own and then some against the Meadville Eagles. Linn County would repeatedly come from behind to pull within as little as one, until the Eagles began to separate with clutch shooting and stout pressure defense that forced Linn County into several turnovers late in the second half. Derek Smith of the Eagles was lights out in the contest leading the Meadville scoring with a whopping 30 points and Meadville took the Championship 55-44.
