The Lafayette County Health Department hosts their 18th annual Heart to Heart Women’s Health Fair at the Lexington High School. Caroline Boland, a nurse with the Lafayette County Health Department, tells us it is a good event to make women more aware about heart health and heart disease.

“It is the number one threat to women for their health,” Boland said.

According to Boland, there will be free health screenings such as blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, body mass index and bone density. There will also be health workshops to help manage stress, learn about nutrition, and more. There will also be some free exercises and activities for young girls, ages four to ten.

“Once the women get their readings, they will be able to get their heart risk assessment and a nurse will be available to go over those with them,” Boland said.

The health fair is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, the 28th, at the Lexington High School at 2323A High School Drive, Lexington, Mo 64067.
