Largest Produce at the Fair

The Missouri Department of Agriculture handed out awards Saturday for the largest produce at the 2013 Missouri State Fair. The largest watermelon was entered by Steve Hamilton of Frankford, Missouri and weighed 94.7 lbs. This is the second consecutive year that Hamilton has won this award and he says it takes a lot of dedication and hard work to get a watermelon to grow this big. The largest pumpkin went to Robert Hayden of Sedalia was awarded the largest pumpkin with his 138.1 lb. produce. KMZU’s Mandy Young had a chance to talk to both winners. To hear more from Hayden, click below.

These winning pieces of produce are on display until the 18th of August in the Ag Building at the 2013 Missouri State Fair.
