Lawson fire responds to entrapment that becomes fatal crash

UPDATE: (09/24.2017 2:45 a.m.)The Missouri Highway Patrol has released the crash report on the serious crash near Lawson in Ray County. The driver of the vehicle passed away shortly after his arrival at Excelsior Springs Medical Center. The report indicates that a northbound vehicle driven by Rodney D. Baxter, 57, of Lawson began to slide and traveled off Route C, north of Route M. The vehicle overturned and struck a ditch. 

UPDATE: (09/23/2017, 11:15 p.m.)Lawson Fire has cancelled the call for Life Flight and are in the process of transporting the victim to Excelsior Springs for treatment.

UPDATE: (09/23/2017, 10:53 p.m.)Emergency personnel working a crash with entrapment East of Lawson have requested life Flight to respond to the scene. Mutual aid from Excelsior Springs have been asked to set up a landing zone near the crash site.

RAY COUNTY, Mo. – The Lawson Fire Department has been dispatched to a motor vehicle crash with entrapment.

Around 10:46, crews were sent to Route C and D for a report of one person being trapped in a vehicle. A caller at the scene reported that the victim is breathing. No other injuries have been reported at this time.
