Lightning reportedly struck the face of the clock on the south side of the building Sunday morning. The stone exterior of the courthouse was damaged as well and Livingston County officials are in communication with insurers and expressed confidence that the damage would be covered.

The lightning strike also took out multiple city computers and forced the elevator out of service and disrupted phone and internet services to the building.
