Macon man wanted on drug warrant facing new allegations

MACON COUNTY, Mo. — A man wanted on a warrant for two drug-related charges was arrested in Macon Thursday morning and is now facing additional allegations.

Court records indicate that Jay P. Patel, 32, of Macon, was charged in June of last year with two counts of felony delivery of a controlled substance in Chariton County. A warrant was issued earlier this month.

Patel was arrested at about 9:23 a.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol. He now faces additional allegations for felony possession of methamphetamine and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Patel is also charged in an unrelated incident with driving while intoxicated as a persistent offender and other minor drug offenses last year in Cooper County.

He is currently held at the Macon County Jail. Bond is set at $25,000. Patel is scheduled to be arraigned in a Chariton County courtroom on Tuesday, February 13 at 9:00 a.m.
