Woman in custody and charged for Columbia shooting

UPDATE: 7:30 p.m. – Columbia detectives have named the suspect in custody for a shooting today in Columbia.

An investigation by police indicates, Sheri Nicole Williams, 37, entered a residence in the 5500 block of volunteer drive and shot a male victim before fleeing the scene. The unidentified 29-year-old man is hospitalized in critical condition. Williams is charged with armed criminal action, domestic assault and unlawful use of a weapon. Bond has not been set at this time.

Police believe the two persons involved had an intimate relationship, and no other persons are suspected in the case.

COLUMBIA, Mo. — The Columbia Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one person in serious condition.

According to a news release, a officers were notified of shots fired in the 5500 block of Volunteer Drive at 5:15 this morning. A 29 year old male victim was located with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. One possible suspect has been detained and was taken to be interviewed by the Criminal Investigations Division.

The investigation is on-going. Any information should be brought to the Columbia Police Department for review.
