Man who fled from crash with school bus in Johnson County to appear in court Thursday

JOHNSON COUNTY, Mo. – A Kansas man who fled the scene after his vehicle collided with a school bus in Johnson County, is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.

Coley Gene Waters, 48, has a hearing at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow afternoon on felony counts of Driving While Intoxicated involving Serious Physical Injury, two counts of Assault in the second degree, Leaving the scene of an Injury Accident and misdemeanor Operating a Vehicle in a Careless and Imprudent Manner. On May 12, 2018, authorities alleged that Waters hit a Grandview bus as it returned from the Holden Track Meet, injuring several students and the bus driver.

Waters fled on foot and was later arrested by the Bates City Police Department.
