Mercer Shooting Update

According to a KMZU listener, a shooting and assault is under investigation in Mercer County. According to the sheriff’s office, they received a report about a man suffering from a gunshot wound north of the Mercer Square Friday evening just before 5:30. Another report indicated the suspect was driving a white vehicle towards the victim’s residence. Officers arrived at the home and witnessed the suspect allegedly assaulting the shooting victim’s wife. That suspect was taken into custody whose name has not yet been released. The shooting victim and his wife have been treated for their injuries and the suspect remains incarcerated in the Mercer County jail. Charges should be filed sometime today. We are communicating with the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office and will bring you more details once they are available.

Just before 11 a.m. Saturday Sheriff Stephen Stockman of Mercer County sent out  a press release which is below…

At 5:26 p.m. the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office got a call regarding a shooting involving David Niemeyer a 67 year old male who was found to be shot three times. The subject had left the scene and went to Niemeyer’s residence where he was involved in a forcible sexual assault on Virginia Niemeyer a 59-year-old female. Subject was arrested at the Niemeyer’s residence and is identified as 64 year old Eugene William Pattie of Marshall MO.

Pattie is in custody at the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office and is being charged with

1 count of Attempted Murder 1st Degree

Armed Criminal Action

Felony Assault 1st Degree

Armed Criminal Action

Felony Attempted Forcible Rape

Pattie is being held with bond denied
