DTN CATTLE PRICES/TRENDS 08/09/2012 09:40CDT
DTN COMMENTS: Light trading is evident this morning in parts of the
North. One regional buyer has paid up to 190.00 for better cattle, as
much as $5.00 higher than last week's weighted average basis Nebraska.
Otherwise the cash arena remains quiet. Generally speaking asking prices
are around 121+ in the South, and 190+ in the North.
Beef cutouts at midmorning are mixed in the live pit and moderately lower
in the feeder trade. Feeders are pressured by strong gains in the corn
market. Beef cutouts are expected to be higher with light to moderate box
movement.
There were confirmed bids in Kansas and Texas of $116.00. Nebraska dressed bids were confirmed at $190.00
at mid-morning.
DTN Hog Prices/Trends 08/09/2012 10:30CDT
At cash hog terminals, Peoria, Il hogs are 1 higher at $56.00 to $58.00. The sow trend is steady at
$28.00 to $32.00 with boars selling for $12-$27.
