Corn:

Planted area, at 3.35 million acres, is down 3 percent from the previous estimate and down 7 percent from last year. Harvested area, at 3.15 million acres, is down 3 percent from the previous estimate and down 5 percent from last year. The corn yield in Missouri is forecast at 133 bushels per acre, up 8 bushels from the September 1 forecast. Production is forecast at 419 million bushels, 69 percent above last year. If realized, this would be the fourth highest production in history.

Soybeans:

Planted area, at 5.60 million acres, is down 2 percent from the previous estimate but up 4 percent from last year. Harvested area, at 5.54 million acres, is down 2 percent from the previous estimate but up 5 percent from last year. The soybean yield in Missouri is forecast at 35 bushels per acre, unchanged from the September 1 forecast. Production is forecast at 194 million bushels, 23 percent above last year.

Cotton:

Planted and harvested area estimates, at 250,000 acres and 241,000 acres respectively, are unchanged from September 1. The cotton yield is forecast at 1,046 pounds per acre, up 10 pounds per acre from September 1. Production is forecast at 525,000 bales (480-pound), down 206,000 bales from last year.

Rice:

Planted area of Missouri rice is estimated at 156,000 acres and harvested area is estimated at 153,000 acres. Yield is forecast at 6,950 pounds per acre. If realized, this would result in a production of 10.6 million hundredweight.

Sorghum:

Missouri planted area is estimated at 70,000 acres, down 22 percent from the previous estimate, but up 8 percent from last year. Harvested area is estimated at 60,000 acres, down 25 percent from the previous estimate, but up 9 percent from last year. Yield is forecast at 89 bushels per acre, up 15 bushels from the September 1 forecast. Production is forecast at 5.34 million bushels, 67 percent above last year.
