MoDOT Continues Work at Stanley Lake Bridge Near Sumner

It’s not, at this time, actual construction which is prompting the crew presence at the site.  “Basically, we are drilling from the top of the bridge to collect some needed data that would be used to plan a future bridge,” said Black.

While it may be frustrating for those living in the area, MoDOT is trying to make it as easy as possible on drivers during the expected three week project.  “They do re-open it in the evenings and overnights so people in the area can travel and take their machinery where they need, “said Black, “It is closed during the daytime hours because of the equipment needed.  It would be too cumbersome and unsafe for crews and drivers to have either lane open while they’re working.”

Officials hope to have testing complete by late this week or early next week.  The new bridge is slated for construction in spring of 2014.
