Heavy snows are expected to begin Saturday afternoon and continue through the night.  MoDOT crews will remain out, working to clear roadways, until the snow is past the area.

The heavy snowfall could have a major impact on visibility.  “We’re hoping that people will forgo travel and stay put so that we can get out and do our job.  We don’t have to worry about other vehicles while we’re pushing a great deal of heavy snow,” said Porter.

If travel is necessary, Porter recommends motorists use caution around snow plows.  He also advises people to consult the MoDot Traveler Information Map before venturing out.  That can be viewed at modot.gov.
