Monsanto held a field day event at their 30 acre test plot in Camden Point, Missouri on Thursday August 1st. The event featured their Roundup Xtend crop system, which pending regulatory approval should be available for the 2015 growing season.

The Roundup Ready Xtend Crop System incorporates dicamba into a product designed to partner with Roundup Ready 2 Xtend Soybeans. The Roundup Ready Xtend Crop System is a technology designed to help maximize weed control through effective and sustainable weed management options. Once regulatory approvals are obtained, the Roundup Ready Xtend Crop System will consist of two primary components: innovative seed products (to be branded as Roundup Ready 2 Xtend for soybeans and Bollgard II XtendFlex for cotton) and enhanced low-volatility herbicide formulations.

E.L. Reed took part in the Monsanto field day event. Reed is one of two Area 2 Board of Director members for the Missouri Soybean Association. He also farms about 480 acres near Chillicothe, Missouri, with about 280 acres in soybeans this year. Click to hear our conversation with Reed following the field day:
