MSHP: Intoxicated Pedestrian Hit While Crossing I-70
Troopers with the Missouri State Highway Patrol and other emergency crews responded to an accident at about 5:30 p.m. Friday on I-70 near the Higginsville junction. Investigators said Michelle Jones, 32, of Illinois, was intoxicated when she attempted to cross the interstate. She was hit by a westbound vehicle driven by Elizabeth Clark, 24, of Lexington. Jones was rushed to Centerpoint Hospital in critical condition. Clark was not hurt in the accident. Although Jones was not operating a vehicle at the time of the incident, she is facing charges of driving while intoxicated, careless and imprudent driving, and possession of marijuana.
