The University of Missouri Extension offers finance workshops called “Make Your Money Count.” The workshops are offered in Carroll, Chariton, and Saline Counties. Trish Savage, MU Extension family financial specialist, said it’s open for all adults and will be one workshop per week over a three week period.

“The first workshop is looking at the issue of money,” Savage said. “Understanding how it impacts our lives and relationships, and ways we can make good decisions on using that money.”

Savage said the workshops build on one another.

“The second workshop is taking control of your finances and it’s going over how you can start your own financial plan,” Savage said. “The third workshop discusses getting organized and you can save time and money with a record keeping system.”

The workshops will begin in Keytesville in Chariton County in the lower-level meeting room of the Chariton County Courthouse, at 306 S. Cherry St. The dates are April 6th, 13th, and 27th. The sessions will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Call 660-288-3239 to register. They will continue in Marshall at the MU Extension Center, at 353 S. Lafayette Ave. They will meet April 7th, 14th, and 21st from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Call 660-886-6908 to register. The workshops for Carroll County will be held at the Carrollton Public Library, at 1 N. Folger St. in Carrollton. The sessions will be April 9th, 16th, and 23rd from 6 to 8 p.m. Call 660-542-1792 to register.

The cost for all three classes is $25. There is a limited number of income-based scholarships available for those who might have difficulty paying the fee. Preregistration is required by Thursday, April 2nd.
