COLUMBIA, MO – The defendant in a Boone County murder trial has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.

During a hearing Monday, Monique Estella-Parra, 38, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the death of Kevin Robert Hollins, 45. In statements made to investigators, Estella-Parra said she had agreed with Hollins to participate in a double suicide with Hollins, but did not go through with it. The victim had reportedly struggled with her for the murder weapon, and it discharged.
