Lafayette County Fire crews and unite from Lexington and Higginsville have been called to the scene of a natural cover fire at the intersection of Brush Creek and Garrison in rural Lafayette County Friday. All available units have been called in. There are reports the blaze has jumped the roadway and units are having difficulty containing the flames, due to the high winds. That location is approximately three miles northwest of Higginsville.

Most counties in the area have put burn bans or advisories in place due to the gusting winds in the region. No outdoor burning should be attempted.
