Raymond Kinney Day is being celebrated in Sweet Springs Friday. Click to hear KMZU’s Sarah Scott speak with Aldermen Tommy Goode.
Goode said the holiday is in honor of the city’s newly-resigned mayor. “Our city council has proclaimed June 28 Mayor Raymond Kinney day. We’re going to celebrate his 5 years of service to the community and express our appreciation.” He added, “We wish the best to him and his family as they move on.”
Goode said the honor is well-deserved by Kinney. “He has helped us manage our budgets and personnel issues in a positive way. He has also lead the community in several efforts to plan forward.” He added, “He did everything he could to strengthen Sweet Springs as a community and a progressive place to do business and to live.”
Kinney and his family have lived in Sweet Springs for 17 years, 5 of which he served as Mayor. They now plan to move to be closer to work and family. Kinney’s official last day was Friday, June 28.
