RAY COUNTY, Mo. — All week long on KMZU, Missouri 4-H is being highlighted – programs offered, scholarship opportunities for 4-H members and some other things that may not pop into your head when you think of 4-H.

There are dozens of 4-H clubs across the KMZU listening area and KMZU’s Denny Campbell had the chance to chat with a local 4-H club leader, Gwen Gilbow, with Guys and Dolls 4-H Club in Ray County, about how her club and its members will celebrate National 4-H Week.

4-Hers across the U.S. will celebrate National 4-H week in a variety of ways and Gilbow said that each club will make the week their own.

“For 4-H Week, the kids will be wearing their 4-H clothes, their 4-H shirts to school one day,” Gilbow explained. “We are just putting out awareness about the different kinds of things we do in 4-H.”

While it’s not part of 4-H week, Gilbow said a natural extension of the week will happen next month. The Guys and Dolls 4-H Club will host a banquet November 1 to recognize achievements by members.
