MAYVIEW, Mo. — Specialty crop growers are in for a treat in Mayview Tuesday evening. KMZU’s Denny Campbell talked with Susan Jaster, from Lincoln University, about a Specialty Crop Growers Collective Brainstorming Session in Mayview. Click below to hear their conversation in the KMZU Newsmaker for September 12, 2017.

Operators with small livestock including sheep, goats, bees and fish, organic growers or anyone interested in farm organic or natural food production is invited to the brainstorming session.

Specialty crops present unique challenges. They require especial labor and marketing and present a number of shipping challenges as well.

Seasoned and new growers alike are invited to the collective for mentoring and discussion of labor, cost and equipment sharing. Another aim of the brainstorming session is to collect ideas from those involved in the Growers Collective.

Anyone interested in attending the event on Tuesday, September 12, in Mayview, is very welcome, Jaster said. The brainstorming session will take place at Burr Oak Farm at 14796 Burr Oak Road in Mayview beginning at 6:30 p.m.
