The Macon Police Department has come up with a creative way to help needy families in the area. According to Chief Steve Olinger, “No Shave November” allows his employees to choose to go without shaving for the entire month for a $25.00 donation. The proceeds will be donated to help local families be able to afford food for the holidays. Although everyone in the department is enthusiastic about the event, not all plan to participate, many have said they will donate to the cause regardless of the opportunity to go without shaving.

The department will document the beard-growing event on their facebook page at www.facebook.com/maconpd. The Chief invites the public to “like” and follow along.

In addition to employee donations, C & R Supermarket and Prenger Foods have both agreed to donate groceries to increase the overall outcome of the fundraiser. The public is invited to support the cause and make monetary donations at the Macon Police Department during their regular business hours 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
