The two 2013 Dodge Chargers went into service on Tuesday night.  White said the new vehicles were purchased to replace a 2004 Chevy Impala and a 2005 Crown Victoria.  “They reached the end of their life span with considerably more miles than we would like to put on our cars.  I think both of them had more than 120,000 miles, so the new cars a welcomed addition,” White said.

According to White, the department was able to purchase a pair of early 2013 model Dodge Chargers last year.  “In our 12-car fleet we have vehicles as old as 1999 Crown Victorias.  We are trying to  slowly phase out vehicles that are 12 to 13 years old.”

The department’s most recent purchases cost a combined total of between $50,000 and $60,000, which included the vehicles and all of the equipment.
