The fiscal year 2014 budget was one topic of discussion at Monday night’s Odessa Board of Aldermen meeting. Click to hear KMZU’s Chris Clift talk with Mayor Justin Murry:
Murry said the new document is similar to what the city did in 2013. “It’s fairly flat. It is a little higher based on some of the increases we are seeing in our sales tax, but we have different projects were are trying to plan. Overall it is as it needs to be and it is balanced. It should be another good year.”
The fiscal year 2014 budget is just over $12.3 million. “The city is close to approving the document,” Murry said. “We had a couple of changes since the last time we discussed it. The first reading went well. When we come back for the next meeting we should get final approval and be ready for October 1st.”
The Odessa Board of Aldermen will vote on the budget at their September 23rd meeting.
