Odessa Sees Bump in Sales Tax Revenue

The Odessa Board of Aldermen got some good news Monday night regarding sales tax revenue.  Click to hear KMZU’s Chris Clift talk with Mayor Justin Murry:

Murry said the latest numbers show the economy is growing.  “The July numbers were both stronger than 2012 and higher than the city had projected,” Murry said.  “Our initial review of August is showing the same.” 

According to Murry, the increase is a combination of residents spending more money and growth in the number of visits to Odessa. “It is positive and shows economic activity is improving in the city. It means people are interacting and we more people coming to our town.”
