UPDATE: 6 p.m. – A warrant was issued Sunday afternoon for a Marshall man accused of murder.
According to Marshall police, officers responded over the weekend to a disturbance in progress at a residence on Viking Lane, taking into custody James Scott Miller, 55, who is under suspicion for 2nd degree murder. The victim was identified as Joshua Charles Smith, 31, who was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

MARSHALL, Mo. — One man is in custody as police in Marshall investigate an alleged shooting incident that left one dead on Saturday.
A news release Saturday night reports that Marshall Police officers responding to a disturbance in progress on Viking Lane at roughly 6:14 p.m. found a 31-year-old Marshall man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He later died while receiving treatment for his injuries at Fitzgibbon Hospital.
A 55-year-old Marshall man, identified as the suspect, was taken to Marshall Police Department, where he is being held while awaiting formal charges.
