Pedestrians struck and injured, one fatally, on I-70 in Lafayette County

LAFAYETTE COUNTY, Mo. — An accident on Interstate 70 late Monday night was fatal for a man from Kansas City.

The Highway Patrol was called to eastbound I-70 at the 61.2 mile marker around 11:45 p.m. to reports two pedestrians had been struck by a vehicle.

Huedell M. Walker, 57 and Melinda K. Walker, 45, both of Kansas City, were standing outside of their broken down vehicle, which reportedly partially blocked the eastbound lanes of I-70.

The Walkers were both struck by a car driven by Faith E. Jordan, 22, of Columbia.

Jordan was not injured, however Melinda Walker suffered serious injuries and was taken to Western Missouri Medical Center for treatment.

Huedell Walker was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene around midnight.
