Wings Over Weston is being held in Platte County Saturday. This event is a celebration of birds, butterflies and habitats that support all wild animals. This is also a celebration of the 175th anniversary of Platte County.
Several displays will be available for your viewing enjoyment from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Weston Bend State Park, located at 16600 Missouri 45. Learn how to recognize how woodland and wildflower habitat sustains birds and butterflies and how you can come to enjoy their beauty.
Those that attend will be able to cast their vote for the official bird species for the County, which will be announced by the county commissioners.
The Dickerson Park Zoo staff will be on hand to present live eagle shows and the Missouri River Bird Observatory will offer bird banding demonstrations. Operation Wildlife will have a number of rescued birds on display. Falconry demonstrations, native plant sales and live music will be offered as well.
Everyone is welcome to come out and enjoy nature and these free demonstrations.
