Authorities are searching a landfill for evidence tied to a triple homicide in Independence.  Officers arrived at the Courtney Ridge Recycling and Disposal Facility early Tuesday morning.  The facility is located near the intersection of Highway 291 and East Kentucky Road.

Maria Hernandez, 48, her son, Antonio Hernandez, 19, and Tomas Dominguez were shot and killed at a home in the 1500 block of South Pope on Nov. 16.  A fourth victim, identified only as a 16-year-old male, was critically injured in the incident.  Authorities believe the shootings were part of a home-invasion robbery involving drugs.

At this time five people have been charged with the murders:  Antonio Cervantes III, 32, Kevin Finley, 33, Raul Soto, 22, Bobbi Jo Phillips, 37, and Carlos Zambrano Jr., 27.  All suspects are scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 12.
