A Carrollton man, who was charged with statutory rape and murder, appeared in court on Tuesday.  Theopolis Johnson II, 43, is accused of killing Kayla Cowan and her mother Kristen Howery at a home in rural Carroll County in October 2011.  He was initially charged with rape, but Prosecuting Attorney Cassandra Brown filed an additional rape charge and two counts of first-degree murder earlier this year. Johnson’s bond was set at $1 million.  He is now scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 15 at 9:00 a.m. for a pre-trial conference.
