The Heart of Missouri Chapter of the American Red Cross responded to a home fire Thursday in the 300 block of East Third Street. The residence was home to a five member family and was a total loss.

Two local volunteers with the Red Cross were called to the scene and made sure the family was provided with financial resources to acquire immediate emergency assistance in the form of clothing, food and temporary shelter at an area motel. The family also received comfort kits and additional assistance from several local partner agencies.

This is just part of what the American Red Cross provides to disaster victims across the nation. If you would like to donate resources or volunteer, you can find more information at the American Red Cross website.
