Richmond Man Arrested After Crashing into Home
An accident in the early morning hours on Saturday ended with a vehicle crashing into the living room of a residence in Richmond. According to the press release, Steven Bonnel, 21, was driving southbound on Thornton Street at a high rate of speed when he traveled through a t-intersection, struck a truck and then ran into the home in the 100 block of East South Street.
No injuries were reported in the incident. Bonnel was located a few blocks from the crash site and arrested for driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a crash.
An unnamed 19-year-old passenger in the vehicle was also taken into custody for minor in possession of alcohol by consumption.
During the investigation, officers discovered Bonnel had also struck a vehicle minutes earlier in a separate accident. He was allegedly backing from a private drive in the 200 block of West Thornton when he hit a parked car. Formal charges are pending at this time.
